This traditional crofters cottage is ideally located in the crofting village of Laxay, Lacasaigh in Gaelic. Only eleven miles from Stornoway, Isle of Lewis and thirty minutes to Tarbert, Isle of Harris.
Meadowcroft Cottage offers outstanding views across the Harris Hills and makes an ideal base to leisurely explore the Hebridean Islands.
Originally built in 1880 this charming cottage has been extended over the years. It has now been completely renovated to a very high standard and offers visitors a very comfortable Hebridean holiday home with all modern conveniences.
Outside is an enclosed patio area, a sun trap, where you can enjoy outdoor dining.
We also have a herd (Blar a Bhard Fold) of pedigree Highland Cattle. They occasionally graze the adjoining croft. They will enjoy watching you as much as you admire them, but are quite shy despite their long horns.
The way of life as you would expect of a crofting village is relaxed, quiet, Hebridean style. Yet if it’s adventure you are looking for there is something for everyone, we have listed a variety of activities for you to consider. For a more sedate holiday set your own pace and see what’s on offer.
Local Fishing Available
There is a loch very close to the Cottage and we have fishing rods and equipment available.
Enjoy the spectacular scenery and wildlife at a leisurely pace using peddle power.
